Our weekend in Göttingen

We have an apartment in Göttingen!! This isn't it and neither are these pictures.

I'll try to find some and post them, too. We didn't take any pictures because the guy living there now had boxes EVERYWHERE.
Where do I start? God provides, Amen? First of all, we didn't know anyone in Göttingen and so we thought we'd have to stay in a hotel. So Brett contacted one of the free churches (non-state) and asked if they knew anyone we could stay with. Get this, someone wrote back and said we could stay in her 1 bedroom apartment and she'd go stay with a friend. That truly blew me away, I mean, let's be honest, who would let someone they don't know stay in their place? I'll tell you, Eva Strehler.

Second of all, have you ever felt like you've known someone forever when you meet them for the first time? Well, I did this weekend. Eva is already a treasured friend.
Thirdly, our apartment. As we walked through the rooms (though piled high with stuff), it sounded more and more too good to be true. Do you know what I mean? The more he told us about it, the more we wanted it. Built in beds and shelves and storage space and desks and KITCHEN. The table and chairs (that look AMAZING) and hope chest and desk chairs come with it. And all the side costs are included in the rent--we don't have to figure out what phone company to use or how to get people to pick up our trash or worry about internet access or cable or electric company or water/sewage or heat. AND we understand each other well (that's the German phrase for we get along very well). A wise woman we know, Katy Smelser, once said that you buy the neighbors when you decide on a place. And so, does it sound to good to be true? Well, maybe it does, but do we serve a God that provides for those who love and serve Him?

I'm glad everything worked out so well and so fast! Finding an apartment can be quite frustrating, but now you already have one! May is so soon... =)
